Künstlerhaus Lukas is one of the oldest artists’ residences in Germany, and to this day it is a highly active and interesting place of artistic creation. While originally it was students of painting who resided in “Sankt Lucas” House, which was built in 1894 by the painter Paul Müller-Kaempff, today this venerable establishment opens its doors to visual artists, authors, composers and dance performers as well as curators from across Germany and many Northern European countries. Funded residencies give them the opportunity to focus entirely on their own works or to breathe life into joint projects. To allow these works to be presented in contrast to other contemporary positions and encourage an interdisciplinary discourse, special funding is available for guest curators to help them organize outstanding presentations at the Neues Kunsthaus, the forum for contemporary and experimental art in Ahrenshoop.
