MANUSMIDLER TIL MINORITETSSPRÅKLIGE FORFATTERE
Den norske Forfatterforening har også for 2016 søkt om og fått tildelt midler fra Norsk kulturråd med tanke på å hjelpe minoritetsspråklige forfattere som bor i Norge.
Midlene skal bidra til at utdrag av nye skjønnlitterære manus skrevet på et annet språk enn norsk eller samisk, kan bearbeides til et nivå som forlagene godtar for å kunne vurdere teksten med tanke på eventuelt fremtidig utgivelse. Midlene bør brukes til å få tekst- og språkhjelp av andre, slik at resultatet av manusbearbeidingen blir minimum 15-20 A4-sider med tekst på norsk. Det er ikke meningen at midlene skal dekke bearbeidelse og oversettelse av et helt manus. Hvem kan søke: Forfatter som har fast bopel i Norge, som ikke har norsk eller samisksom morsmål eller arbeidsspråk, og som tidligere har fått utgitt et eller flere skjønnlitterære verk (bøker) på et annet språk enn norsk eller samisk. NB: Søkere som skriver på språk som mange forlag har kompetanse på, som f.eks. engelsk, fransk, spansk og tysk, blir ikke vurdert.
Hva kan det søkes midler til: Det kan søkes om støtte til språkbearbeidelse av manus (dels oversettelse, dels bearbeidelse av oversettelsen i samarbeid med forfatter). Det vil ikke bli tildelt støtte til manus basert på tekst som allerede er publisert eller offentliggjort. Det vil heller ikke bli tildelt støtte til ren oversettelse av et ferdig manus. Midlene skal gå til å honorere en eller flere personer som kan fungere dels som oversetter, dels som språklig veileder (i norsk) og samtalepartner for forfatteren. Den samlede søknadssummen på kr 150.000 kan bli delt i flere stipend. De siste årene har støtten blitt delt i tre stipend. Det vil kunne tildeles midler også til forfatteren for dennes arbeid sammen med de eksterne, men forfatterandelen vil være vesentlig mindre enn til de eksterne.
Hvordan søke:
1. Send en skriftlig søknad på norsk eller engelsk til styret i Den norske Forfatterforening.
2. For å bli vurdert må søknaden inneholde en kort presentasjon av deg selv, en liste over dine tidligere utgivelser med informasjon om sjanger og når utgivelsene ble utgitt, samt forlag eller utgiver. Videre må du nevne hva slags manus du vil bearbeide, navn på den/de du har spurt om manusbistand fra, og hva slags kompetanse den eller disse personene har innen språk og litteratur.
3. Tildelte midler vil bli utbetalt etter faktura direkte til den/de som har utført manusarbeidet. Dersom det er flere personer som skal honoreres, bør søknaden inneholde en tenkt fordeling mellom dem. Om ikke annet oppgis, vil midlene fordeles likt mellom de eksterne personene.
Vurdering av søknadene vil bli foretatt ut fra en enhetsvurdering, der bl.a. forfatterens nåværende skrivesituasjon, tidligere utgivelser og manushjelperen(e)s kompetanse vil spille inn. Søknaden vil bli behandlet av styret i Den norske Forfatterforening og innenfor de økonomiske rammene som er gitt.
Rapportering: En skriftlig rapport om hvordan midlene er brukt må sendes styret senest 1. november 2016.
Viktig: Tildeling av midler innebærer ingen garanti for at de bearbeidede manussidene vil bli vurdert, antatt eller utgitt av et norsk forlag. Vi understreker at Forfatterforeningen selv verken gir ut bøker eller bistår eller støtter bokutgivelser.
Forfatteren må selv ta kontakt med mulige forlag.

GRANTS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF MANUSCRIPTS BY MINORITY LANGUAGE WRITERS
The Norwegian Authors' Union has applied for and received funding for 2016 from the Arts Council Norway to help minority language writers living in Norway.
The funding is intended to help encourage the production of new fiction manuscripts written in languages other than Norwegian, Sami or a major world language, so that part of the manuscript can be adapted to a level that will give the publishing houses a possibility to assess the text for possible future publication. The funding should be spent on textual and linguistic assistance to create a manuscript adaptation consists of a minimum of 15 to 20 A4-pages of text in Norwegian. The funding is not intended to cover the costs of a translation and adaptation of a complete manuscript.
Who can apply: Authors whose regular domicile is in Norway, who do not have Norwegian or a major foreign language as their first language (or working language), and who have previously published one or more works of fiction (books) in a language other than Norwegian, Sami or a major foreign language. OBS. Applicants writing in languages that most publishing houses have knowledge in such as English, French, Spanish and German will not be considered.
What is the grant available for: Grant is available for linguistic revision of manuscripts (partly translation, partly revision of translations in collaboration with the author). Grants will not be allocated for manuscripts of texts previously published or made public. Nor will support be granted purely for the translation of a finished manuscript. The grant shall be spent to recompense one or more individuals who can serve partly as translators, partly as linguistic supervisors (in Norwegian) and who act as sounding boards for the author. The total funding of 150.000 NOK will probably be divided into several grants (Lately the grant has been divided into three grants). We may also pay a part of the grant to the author for his or hers work with the external persons. However, the author’s payment will be considerably lower than the one to the external resources.
How to apply:
1. Submit a written application in Norwegian or English to the Board of the Norwegian Authors' Union.
2. To be considered the application must contain a brief introduction of yourself, a list of your earlier publications with the approximate date of publication and the genre, as well as the name of the publishing house or publisher. Further, it is imperative that you specify what kind of manuscript you will be adapting, who you have asked for manuscript assistance from, and what kind of expertise this person or these people have in language and literature.
3. Based on invoices, the grant will be paid directly to the/those who has/have worked on the manuscript. Where several individuals are to be paid, the application should outline a possible distribution between them. If not specified otherwise, the awarded funding will be distributed equally between the external people involved.
The applications will be reviewed on the basis of an overall assessment, including the author's current writing situation, as well as earlier publications. Also, the manuscript consultants' expertise will play a part in the overall assessment. The application will be considered by the Board of the Norwegian Authors' Union.
Reporting: A written report of the use of the funding is required and must be submitted to the Board at the latest by the 1st of November 2016.
Important: Being allocated funding implies no guarantee that the revised manuscript will be considered, accepted or published by a Norwegian publishing house. We emphasise that the Norwegian Authors' Union neither publishes books nor provides assistance or support with regard to book publication.
